Environmental alarmism: from Lamarck to Greta Tunberg

22 October 2019, 19:00
category: lecture
100 UAH
place: Co-working center "Impact Hub Odessa" (1A Grecheskaya street)

We all will die. Nothing can be done about it. But "not today," we say to the God of Death. Each person, and humanity as a whole, lives in anticipation of the end of the world. Religious organizations, academic societies, startups and projects from Seventh-day Adventists to Elon Musk use the theme of the end of the world to change our lives today and now.              Will the world die in an environmental disaster? Are we to blame for our children and those of others that they may be worse off than us? Are we really short of Earth’s resources and will have to leave it in the near future? What should we and should not hope for? We will discuss the history of environmental alarmism and environmental eschatology, as well as prepare the forecasts of Lamarck and Greta Tunberg regarding the future of the Earth. Come talk about the essentials.              The lecture is delivered by Vladimir Nemertsalov (Volodymyr Nemertsalov), associate professor of the Department of Botany, ONU named after Mechnikova, assistant professor of medical chemistry, ONMU.              Entrance: 100 UAH       If you register, we will definitely save a place for you: https://forms.gle/WxtA33PqGsdrxbQ6A              By the way, in order not to miss the events of the Living Room, we recommend subscribing to our telegram channel: https://t.me/HubLivingroom
