History of world battle shows that war and medicine are closely intertwined, which makes the latter continuously evolve under the pressure of ever-changing hard circumstances. The contribution of workers of the army medical service in the liberation of Ukraine is huge. During the war at the front and in the rear toiled over 200 000 doctors and half nurses. Half of them were women. "No wounded should not remain on the battlefield!" – the slogan of the first days of the war. The work of nurses at the front was equal to the feat of the combatants. Their task was not only evacuation from the battlefield the wounded, but also take away all their weapons: rifles, submachine guns, light machine guns. The real heroes, evacuating the wounded from the battlefield, they often covered them, risking his life no less than the soldiers themselves. Casualties among medical staff of the army are in second place after the losses of the infantry on the front lines. That is on the front lines are often housed medical facilities and operating rooms. Because the sooner the wounded was given medical help, the more he had a chance to live and return to operation. According to the Main military-sanitary Directorate of the red army, the medical service was back in operation only after treatment in a 1943 monthly to 400 thousand, and in 1944 - more than 400 thousand of the wounded and sick. The war was won largely by soldiers and officers returned to duty the medical service. It is difficult to overestimate the importance of the medical service to achieve victory over the enemy. Not coincidentally, military leaders and historians, speaking about her work during the war,I emphasize, first of all, the contribution of medical services to strengthen the army, increase its combat capability. According to experts, the success in treatment of the wounded and sick, to return them to duty and to the work, its significance and the volume is equal to winning major strategic battles of the Second world war, 1939-1945. The doctors, natives of Odessa region fought on all fronts in the battle for Ukraine. Overall management of the medical provision of the coastal army, which defended Odessa in 1941, was carried out by the chief sanitary service of the army D. G. Sokolovsky. In July and August 1941. hospitals in the city began to turn into military hospitals. The staff stayed in their seats, with translation into the barracks and army rations. Additionally, appointed by the Commissioner and the required number of doctors. The number of beds increased to the limit. In such hospitals, the hospitals were placed and residents shrapnel wounds received in the streets, did not differ from those with whom they were brought to the forefront. It was almost the only case in the initial period of the war, when in possession of the army, cut off at the Odessa base was a private specialized hospitals. On the basis of evacuated to the mainland famous Platovski clinic, there emerged the proletarian (French) Boulevard hospital for soldiers and commanders with eye injuries. The disciple of the academician V. Filatov, doctor Chevalier and other Odessa opticians saved there vision many primary. And in the dental Institute on the Richelieu was treating maxillofacial injuries. Were created and other hospitals narrow profile provided with the appropriate equipment and experienced specialists. The ranks of army doctors joined many prominent Odessa doctors, especially surgeons. Some were volunteers, being already removed from the military account of age or condition. The names of the professors. Kofman, N. Kozdobi, physicians, S. Levichev, K. Chrulenko, many nurses and techs were known throughout the coastal army.
