Giselle, ou les Wilis) is probably the most romantic work of the last centuries. Among the countless stories ever told in the language of dance, never created anything more beautiful and sad than this drama. Thanks to the charm of its plot and perfect choreography, this romantic masterpiece became a classic ballet and became, along with "Swan lake", the most famous and popular ballet in the world. It is in Giselle finally established ballet romanticism. Dance in "Giselle" received poetic inspiration. In the solo "fantastic" party included a variety of flying, creating the impression of lightness of the characters. Heroine rose EN Pointe. In "earth", nepotistically images dance became a national specificity. In the ballet established a new type of ballet drama where dance is not an illustration of the plot of the episodes, and becomes the main poetic means of expressing artistic content. A timeless story of love, betrayal and repentance was first presented on June 28, 1841 on the stage of the Paris theater Grand Opera house, then known as the Royal Academy of music and dance.
