The topic of immortality has always interested humanity. To overcome his own nature and live forever – one of the main themes of folk tales, myths, literary plots. But often this desire to pay an exorbitant price. In the lecture we will talk about living forever, "the children of the night" whose image in the culture changed so often, not always successfully it was possible to understand – vampires are monsters and romantic heroes? The lecture will discuss: • the image of vampires in folk tales of Eastern Europe; • the historical context of hunting vampires and the epidemic of vampirism in Europe XVIII century. • why did the vampire "got" canines have learned to turn into a bat, and if he did drink human blood? • why and when the vampire has become a romantic character? • as the cinema made popular by a Carpathian count and some of his brides. • are there real vampires? • as the image of the vampire has evolved into art and mass culture (from my grandmother's fairy tales to novels by Guillermo del Toro)? And to answer the question of why bad to go outside without garlic and sunscreen. And Yes, we remember "Twilight" (but briefly). Lecturer Mykhailo Cossacks – philosopher, able to speak simply about difficult things. Explores popular culture, mythology, theory of the hero's journey.
