Andrei Mantegna: the artist in search of his face
The work of this significant Italian painter of the Early Renascimento (Renaissance) era is truly unique not only by the very fact of the highest artistic quality of his work, but also because of the amazing synthesis that the master achieved, combining the best achievements of the Venetian and accompanying Padua painting traditions typical of the Northern Renaissance architectonic compositions, some special embossed form. Mantegna is the greatest master of the transmission of optical illusions among Italian contemporaries. Among the many masterpieces created by his brush, there are works that are a kind of "golden fund" of European art. It is about them - “Praying for the Chalice”, “Dead Christ”, murals in the Mantua Palace (“Oculus”) and many others will be discussed in this lecture.
