November 20 at 17:00 in the Great Hall of the Odessa Literature Museum Gallery will open the photo exhibition of Spepan Alekyan (BLACK & WHITE) POETS AND PROZEIKI ODESSA. “The southern capital is rich in prominent people of art. Naturally, as a photo artist, I wanted to reflect them, and save for the history a gallery of portraits of these figures. Therefore, in 2009, he carried out the first project “People of Odessa Art” at the Greek Cultural Foundation, and then “Artists of Odessa” at the Odessa Museum of Western and Eastern Art. This exhibition is dedicated to poets and prose writers of Odessa. ” Stepan Alekyan Stepan Arsenyevich Alekyan - a member of the National Union of Photographers of Ukraine and the Odessa Photographic Association, a member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, was born in Tbilisi. After graduating from high school, he worked as a printer in a printing house, engaged in sports and sports journalism. In 1968 he entered the Odessa Naval College, and in 1969 went to his first overseas trip. The sea captured him into his vast space for forty years: for sixteen years he worked as a sailor in dry cargo vessels, for about five years as a photographer on passenger ships Fedor Chaliapin, Dmitry Shostakovich and others, and the last twenty years as a boatswain. Since 1968 he began to engage in photography. Seen distant countries, communication with people of different nationalities formed him as a person, ready to show creativity in artistic photography.In the 1970s and 1990s, he collaborated with the newspapers Mayak, Vechernyaya Odesa, the Sea Fleet magazine, and others. Pictures of Stepan Alekyan in these years were published not only in the Odessa press, but also in Moscow (Ogonyok magazine, Pravda newspaper). Stepan Alekyan is a member of many national and international photo contests. He is a laureate of the magazines "New Time" (1973), "Twinkle" (1977). 1981 - 1983 He studied at the Moscow Extramural University of Photography. In 1989, he entered the Photocenter of the Union of Journalists of the USSR. In 1991, he graduated from the correspondence faculty of photojournalism at the Photocenter. The photographer held 12 solo exhibitions in Odessa. He presented his works at foreign photo salons and the Biennale. In 1998 and 2004 he participated and entered the catalog of the journalist forum "WORLD PRESS PHOTO", Amsterdam. In 2017, in the nomination “Photographic Art”, she was awarded the “Brilliant Duke” competition for the creation of a portrait gallery of artists, Odessa, Ukraine. 2018 - laureate of the award “Cultural Capital”, Odessa, Ukraine.
