“The Crisis of Urbanism: Reflections and Practice” by the Flywheel of Time
The modern metropolis gives rise to many social problems. Cities are increasingly divided into clusters of rich and poor, successful and passive. This motivates some to work more and more productively in order to find themselves in a prestigious cluster; for others, it strengthens social inequality and creates conflicts. Richard Florida, one of the most famous contemporary American urbanists, based on extensive empirical material, talks about the problems of modern American cities and ways to solve them. We will talk about how the theories of this researcher, as well as the author of the concept of “creative class” are applicable to the situation in modern Ukrainian cities during a lecture by the historian Vladislav Vodko on the work of R. Florida, “The Crisis of Urbanism”. Vladislav Vodko - historian, social scientist, participant in the 15x4 project. ✅ Free donation (recommended amount is 100 UAH), by prior registration: ➡️ https://forms.gle/pGprdtAK35RC44jy8 We are waiting for you on November 26 Beginning at 19:00 Arkady Alley, left wing (behind the amusement park), Space office
