Infectious diseases have always scared people with their infectiousness and lethality. Large-scale epidemics periodically swept across the Earth, sometimes taking the lives of millions of people and changing history, and names such as “smallpox” and “plague” still inspire fear. Over the past 100 years, humanity has experienced an unprecedented rise and flourishing of science. Despite the fact that many diseases are in the past due to vaccination and antibiotics, outbreaks of new infectious diseases occur in the world with enviable regularity.              Atypical pneumonia in 2003, swine flu in 2009, Middle East respiratory syndrome in 2012, and today - Wuhan coronavirus.              In the lecture you will learn:       1. What was behind the high-profile headlines of past epidemics?       2. Where do the new microbes come from?       3. Are new diseases so terrible as the media cover them?       4. Is the world facing a new pandemic?       5. What is coronavirus and why is it the third time that it threatens humanity in the last 20 years?       6. What to do in order not to get sick with coronavirus and how to behave if there are sick people in the environment?              The lecture is delivered by Anastasia Zakovenko, an infectious disease specialist at the Odessa City HIV Prevention Center.              Entrance: 100 UAH       If you register, we will definitely save a place for you: https://forms.gle/UcCRjMtGngHj9Ye68              By the way, in order not to miss the events of the Living Room, we recommend subscribing to our telegram channel: https://t.me/HubLivingroom
