At the same time, punk rock fits perfectly into the hegemony of rhythm and blues. The real conceptual attack on established rock traditions was the emergence of post-punk, which came to replace the rapidly fading punk rock. And if the early post-punk albums of the late 70s fairly accurately characterized the new sound (slow groove, a rhythm section brought forward with a monotonous rhythm and unpretentious bass, depressing lyrics sung to disturbing melodies, plus a large number of flirting with musical experiments, noise , avant-garde, kraut, dub, etc.), in the 80s the boundaries of post-punk were completely blurred, and the style itself lost its relevance, giving birth to such genres as gothic rock, industrial, synth-pop, post-hardcore and, in general, the entire alternative scene 90s.
