The comedy about adventurers and swindlers, although written a century and a half ago, remains extremely modern. All the signs of our time are hidden behind the screen of the classic plot: bribery, arbitrariness, lawlessness. And although the viewer laughs throughout the performance, tearing his stomach, a revelation awaits him in the finale. It turns out that laughter is through tears. The Inspector General is a play full of Gogol's devilish jokes and comic situations. Slightly updated material in the performance of the Honored Artist of Ukraine Vyacheslav Zhily sounds bitingly and energetically in a new way. Recognizable characters, unambiguous hints - the truth in the production is closely mixed with a joke.
