Utroba. Exhibition by Lesha Petrov

14 February 2021, 12:00
category: exhibition
place: The Museum of modern art (Belinskogo St., 5)

⚫️ On February 6, the personal exhibition of Lesha Petrov Utroba opens at the Muzeon Experimental Center Lesha Petrov works with the technique of paper collage, using the visual attributes of op-art, science fiction and psychedelic culture. The name of the exhibition is Utroba - comes from the Proto-Slavic utroba with the root otro (internal). Also, the Old Russian word "womb" with the meaning of "insides", "nutr". The paths that can be recognized in the artist's works are built around existential and cosmogonic subjects. These are images of babies and adults in the embryonic position, black holes and wormholes, reverse evolution and the cosmic vacuum in which geometric abstractions hang. In this case, the set of images and details for the collage is isolated from popular and popular culture. There are no specific personalities, events, symbols of modern history. The author finds materials for his work in old scientific books and magazines, whose tone of images remains neutral and even detached. The sizes of works vary from classic poster, to miniature, seemingly telescopically reduced formats 3x5cm ~ These factors create a certain kind of impenetrability, hermeticity for Lesha Petrov's creativity. And it seems that the shades of psychedelic revelation and fear of the cosmos are a consequence of the impossibility, but the desire to talk about the transcendent. ⏳Opening will take place on 06.02 throughout the day, from 12:00 to 19:00.  Also on the opening day, at 17:00 and 19:00, Lyosha Petrov will perform a thematic musical performance in the exposition space.
