Meeting with the authors On April 25, at 4 pm, a presentation of the unique book "The Model Behind the Iron Curtain" will take place at the World Club of Odessa citizens - it tells about how fashion was "made" in Odessa in Soviet times. This involved huge teams of huge enterprises, the archives of which have not survived, and in the periodicals of those times there is also practically no information about their work. Therefore, for several years, the authors of the book, Tatiana Savchenko and Irina Vishnevskaya, bit by bit collected official data, the memories of people who in the past worked in the field of light industry and consumer services. As a result, the modern reader will be able to clearly imagine the conditions in which the first fashion designers, technologists, dressmakers, and fashion models had to work. Well, those who lived during the years of the "Iron Curtain" will remember, for example, the existence of entire specialized ateliers - they raised arrows on tights, about queues to famous sewing masters - they were busy in the evening, about city fashionistas - they went to identical shoes and bolognese raincoats, about unearthly beauties-fashion models - there were only five of them in the whole of Odessa! The material presented in the book is abundantly illustrated with photographs, most of which are published for the first time. Among them are photographs of the first Odessa fashion photographer Valery Shishin, whose archive was considered lost.The book is also interesting because through all of its narration, interrupting the journalistic part, there is a story about a fictional heroine - a model named Lola. Also during the presentation, the authors will present another joint project - the first and second books "Beauty as a Promise of Happiness". They tell about the ups and downs, love and broken hopes of real Odessa women living among us. The number of seats in the hall is limited. Compliance with anti-epidemic measures is a must!
