Healthy Eating Principles for Type 2 Diabetes - Myths and Reality. Recently, the feed brings a lot of comments on the topic of diabetes. People write: 復 “For diabetes, carbohydrates are like death” 復 “I have prediabetes and I was told to exclude bread and potatoes” 復 “I eat a light breakfast, only oatmeal with berries, and sugar goes off scale after it” 復 "I don't eat anything after 6 pm, but in the morning I get up and sugar is under 200" 復 “I keep such a strict diet, and I have to take more and more drugs, the doctor said that soon he will need to inject insulin, because the sugar does not improve.” These and other statements indicate that these people do not know the physiology of nutrition and the principles of the body in diabetes, and also have never read the recommendations of the American Diabetes Association and the American Academy of Nutrition.  With a properly balanced diet, sugar does not jump.  A correct diet does not mean giving up carbohydrates, which means combining them correctly with each other and with other foods, taking into account the difference between the glycemic index and glycemic load.  Proper nutrition for diabetes is to cook so that the glycemic index of the finished product, which shows how quickly and how much blood sugar rises after this meal, is less due to different food combinations and different cooking methods. In general, I was hooked. At first I thought, as usual, to write an article. Then I realized that there was too much material for the article in 25 years of working as a clinical nutritionist. Therefore, I decided that I would give a free lecture on the topic: Principles of healthy eating in type 2 diabetes - myths and realities. ☀️ When: June 23 at 6:30 pm New York time. ☀️ Where: on the Facebook page "TOP Smart Nutrition Amazing Dietetics - Irina Strogach" Within 30 minutes after the lecture, there will be an opportunity to ask additional questions. For those who do not keep up with the live broadcast, the lecture will be available on tape for 24 hours. ☀️ After the lecture, participants will understand:  a healthy cycle of sugar and insulin in the body  how insulin resistance is formed  how to combine foods to prevent sugar surges throughout the day  How to design a menu based on the recommendations of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the American Academy of Nutrition (AND)  how to lower the glycemic index of foods  what to do to lower blood sugar level in the morning on an empty stomach Come, bring your friends and family who are interested in this. The lecture is delivered by Irina Strogach, MS, RD, CDN, a clinical nutritionist with 25 years of experience. Irina is not an official representative of ADA and AND. The lecture is not a substitute for a visit to the doctor
