WSET Level 2 Wine is a beginner to intermediate level qualification in wine studies suitable for professionals and enthusiasts. This qualification is intended for beginners wishing to explore a wide range of wines and for those seeking to further develop the initial knowledge gained in the WSET Level 1 Wines qualification. You will get to know the main and regionally significant grape varieties in the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine produced from them. By combining tasting with theory, you will explore the factors that influence the style and quality of wines and learn to confidently describe those wines. What will you learn: How to taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Wine Tasting® (SAT) How environmental factors, viticulture, winemaking and aging methods affect the style and quality of wines made from eight main grape varieties: - Chardonnay - Pinot Grigio / Pinot Gris - Sauvignon Blanc - Riesling - Cabernet Sauvignon - Merlot - Pinot Noir - Sira / Shiraz Style and quality of wines: - made from 22 regionally significant grape varieties - produced in over 70 Geographical Indications (GIs) worldwide How Manufacturing Processes Affect Key Styles: - sparkling wines - fortified wines Key labeling terms used to indicate the origin, style and quality of wine Principles and processes for storing and serving wine Principles of food and wine pairing Teaching the course This qualification has a minimum requirement of 28 hours * of study time: 16 hours - taught by a WSET course provider (in class or online) 11 hours - self-study and repetition 1 hour - exam Where?
