Arch Walk along Vorontsovsky Lane and Military Descent

On a fascinating historical and architectural walk, you will learn the history of houses and their owners, see interesting corners and architectural treasures of Vorontsovsky Lane and Voenny Descent. From the first years of Odessa's existence, a road leading to the port was laid along the bottom of one of the three beams that crossed the Odessa plateau. During the 19th century, the slope was built up mainly with inexpensive hotels, hostels and taverns without any special architectural delights. By the beginning of the twentieth century, solid apartment buildings of interesting architecture began to appear here, and buildings of previous times were rebuilt in a more imposing manner.
