TWILIGHT OF THE GODS Alexander Vertinsky and Vera Kholodnaya Premiere - December 2006 The play was staged by a young Moscow director, a graduate of Roman Viktyuk's course, Yevgeny Lavrenchuk, based on a play by the famous Odessa writer and historian Rodion Fedenev. The plot of the play is based on real biographical facts from the life of the legendary Russian actor and poet Alexander Vertinsky, the history of his relationship with an equally legendary person - the famous Odessa woman, silent film star Vera Kholodnaya. Director Yevgeny Lavrenchuk about the play: “When an entire era, a layer of culture, leaves, the Idols of this era leave with it. But the Idols, like the Gods in antiquity, do not just leave. A piece of our immortality leaves with them. Today, in the century digital technologies, the human soul loses its poetry. The pathos and romance of the great European culture are leaving. Poetry is driven into the ghetto of libraries. Today, only crazy people read poetry.
