Louvre in the desert? The Louvre Abu Dhabi is a branch of the Paris Louvre, located on an artificial island in a building designed by Jean Nouvel, which in itself is an attraction for many even more than its exposition. The decision to build the Louvre Abu Dhabi and transfer paintings from the collections of French museums to it has drawn criticism from some artists. 4,700 museum experts, archaeologists and art historians have signed a petition stating that "French museums are not for sale." But nevertheless, for 1 billion euros that were paid to the Louvre in Paris, a museum was opened already in 2017, which is allowed to use the name "Louvre" for 30 years (until 2047). The new museum presents objects not only of the French Louvre, but also of the Center Georges Pompidou, Orsay and Versailles. Some of the most striking works in the exhibition: "The Savior of the World" by Leonardo Da Vinci, "Bonaparte at the St. Bernard Pass" by Jacques Louis David and one each by Pablo Picasso, van Gogh, Joan Miro, Pollock, Basquiat and other representatives of the classic set of "beginning amateur arts." We invite you to a lecture by Vladimir Ostrovsky about this and other unusual museums of the world on January 20 at 19:00 at Preobrazhenskaya, 11. Cost: 200 UAH Pre-registration is required at the link: https://forms.gle/iAetX4QdQyB3GrU4A Inquiries by phone: 050 50 111 40
