Come support Yuri! Recall that the refusal to grant refugee status signed by the head of the DMS Natalia Naumenko is motivated by the conclusions that human rights are respected at a high level in Belarus, there are no tortures and inhuman treatment in prisons, there is a fair trial and an independent advocacy. Such conclusions are made on the basis of a clipping from the Belarusian branch of the Russian newspaper "Arguments and Facts Belarus" for 2017. Due to persecution, like many Belarusians today, he had to flee the country.“In 2011, I was detained by the Ministry of Internal Affairs for applying a stenciled inscription with a slogan, and then my name was entered in the “register of anarchists.” And in the summer of 2012, they were detained for leaflets, taken to the police station and beaten, tortured with electric shocks and knocked out the names and data of participants in such actions. They let me go without a protocol – I was beaten, threatened with murder and jail.” Yury was put on the international wanted list by the security forces and detained in Odessa on August 17, 2020, at the height of the protests in Belarus against rigged elections and violence against civilians. Yury filed a request with the DMS of Ukraine to provide him with protection due to persecution by the Belarusian authorities. He spent 7 months in a pre-trial detention center, and after 4 months the migration service hid his refusal, continuing to accept documents and communicate with Yuri. The refusal was motivated by the lack of sufficient evidence regarding the events that Yuri spoke about.
