Of course, you understand what kind of "mother" we are talking about. The "backbone" or, if you like, the "skeleton" of the band consisted of 4 people - Alexey Semenishchev (guitar, vocals), Valery Chernis (button accordion, guitar, beard), Pavel Kuznetsov (violin) and Valentin Kuba ("frontman", guitar, vocals ). The team was born in the Odessa restaurant "Gentleman", where lovers of the old Odessa song gathered on Thursdays. Over time, the repertoire began to acquire author's songs, songs of Soviet composers of the 30s-60s, instrumental compositions of the peoples inhabiting our region. Our team has chosen as the main principle of its work the preservation of the best examples of Odessa restaurant performance, which implies the widest range of genres of the musical and literary heritage of this glorious, no matter what, City. These are Jewish ritual wedding songs, Moldavian, Gypsy, Greek, Ukrainian dance music, songs from films, an author's song. Over the years, the composition of "Mother's Children" was replenished with different, and not the worst, musicians. These are double bassists Maxim Kondratiev, Ruslan Rusin, Oleg Khudoblyak, Sergey Zaporozhets, Valery Burymchenko, violinists Alexander Knopp, Pavel Kuznetsov, Andrey Bochevar, Georgy Sokolov, drummers Sergey Nesterchuk, Oleg Pokutny, a whole galaxy of wind players - the invariable Igor Znatokov (clarinet, saxophones), Evgeny Zarubaev (flute, saxophone), Pyotr Kovalchuk and Miroslav Pyatnikov (trumpet), Evgeny Khandyzhko and Andrey Tsukanov (trombones), Viktor Falkovsky (guitar). Together with Valentin Kuba and with the support of the Vyacheslav Kruk "Southern Capital" fund, 3 CDs were recorded, which included about 70 songs about Odessa. For 3 years, more than 60 concerts were given on the streets and squares of the city, in theaters, on the Potemkin Stairs. The team took part in the filming of many television programs and films, festivals.This year marks the 10th anniversary of the play “Gobies in Tomatoes” (dir. Igor Luchinkin), which was conceived and staged together with us. As funny as it may seem, but the peculiarity of the band is in a "live" performance, which is almost a unique phenomenon in today's musical space and allows us to perform on the street, in an apartment, in a restaurant, on the stages of concert halls, in television studios. Well, the uniqueness and peculiarity of the sound of the klezmer band "Mom's Children" is given by the exclusive repertoire and the natural manner of presenting the Odessa flavor, because we all come from Odessa!
