Tradition torch / Marina Verhovetskiy

A series of lectures about the history of art schools of Ukraine continue the conversation about the creative Association that influenced and actually determined the cultural landscape of our city for many years.  Association of South Russian artists (TYURH) is the largest art Association in the South of the Russian Empire of late XIX - early XX century — it was founded in Odessa in 1890 at the initiative of a group of local artists. The founders of the Partnership were followers, and many members of the Association of traveling art exhibitions. One of the great advantages of torch was the lack of caste-based closed — to participate in exhibitions could be anyone from eminent academics to young beginners, students of the Odessa drawing school. Fatal to the history of the Association began 1919-1920, when many artists, not expecting anything good from the coming changes, emigrated abroad. In the Odessa art Museum stores and exhibits the most complete and representative collection of works by members of the Association of South Russian artists.
