From time immemorial, man has thought about his fate and the world around him. In different historical periods, the answers were based on personal observations, signs, superstitions, religious worldview. Science has replaced all of this and radically changed our lives. However, the prejudices did not disappear without a trace, they only disguised themselves as scientific conclusions and are still misleading. Is it worth it to fight with them and how? On January 21, visiting Terminal 42 - Ph.D. Arthur Franz with a lecture on the scientific picture of the world and prejudice.              Life after death, the existence of a "higher power", the inevitability of fate - probably humanity would continue to wander in the labyrinths of prejudice, if scientific knowledge had not come to the rescue. It was science that first shed light on the burning questions of humanity, and then, step by step, began to give answers to more personal questions. For example, why do we feel jealousy, what is good and what is evil, etc.              Our guest, Arthur Franz, founder of the Odessa research laboratory OCCAM Odessa, master of physical and mathematical sciences, candidate of technical sciences in the field of artificial intelligence is convinced: science is much closer than it seems at first glance. It helps not only at the global level (for example, to prevent natural disasters, diseases, hunger), but also is applicable in everyday life. The main thing is to often resort to a scientific approach and critical analysis, and not rely on the vicissitudes of fate.During the lecture, we will consider a number of basic concepts about science in general. We will specially pay attention to the complex nature of cognitive distortions and talk about why one cannot believe personal experience; what unites and what distinguishes a scientific and religious worldview.
