Ensemble of Ukrainian song and dance company "Verkhovyna” is the cultural Department of the Edmonton branch of the Union of Ukrainian Youth (SUM) of Canada, founded in 1949. The Ensemble chorus of "Verkhovyna” and dance group "Dunai”. Choir "Verkhovyna” was established in 1959 as a women's vocal ensemble, for which in 1976 he joined the male voice. Now the choir consists of 45 singers and sings folk, secular and spiritual music. The conductor of the choir - Orest of Soltykevych. Dance ensemble "Danube” was founded in 1974, 14 young enthusiasts, and now consists of 35 women and 15 men aged 16 to 28 years, which is headed by Sean Ostafi. In the repertoire of traditional folk dances from different regions of Ukraine. In 2019, marking the 60th anniversary of the choir "Verkhovyna” and the 45th anniversary of dance ensemble "Danube”, the ensemble is sent in the anniversary concert tour, which will give concerts Canada (Alberta) and Eastern Europe and, in particular, in August in Ukraine and Georgia. The culmination of the world tour is the final concert in Edmonton in the fall of 2019, after the return of the ensemble at home.
