"Found story, where I prove to the world that the lovers must stay alive in the Opera finals and that is true" (P. I. Tchaikovsky). In "Iolanta" there is no negative character, but it pervades the idea of the all-conquering power of love. The plot of the Opera is simple and yet full of metaphors and mystical symbolism. The action takes place in a quiet valley in the South of France, where he lives blind daughter of the king of Provence Iolanta. She is good in seclusion with his father. She doesn't know she is blind, and having fun among friends, while she visits a strange longing. That Iolanta is blind, her father, king rené, he sees the Lord's punishment for their sins and feels guilt towards her daughter. Almost lost hope for the healing of the blind Iolanta, he finds the doctor-moor, who believes that Iolanta must crave healing. The Princess will be able to recover only if he finds out about his blindness. The king doesn't want to expose your daughter to such a shock. But the real healer is love. Suddenly in the garden where stands the Palace of Iolanta, are the two young knights, one of whom, Vaudemont, falls in love and tells her about how beautiful the world around her. For this he faces death: the king warns that the life or death Vaudemont will depend on, will Iolanta vision. The desire to save the knight heals Iolanta.
