October 27 16:00 Free admission Meeting with British artist Katherine Lozing and opening of the work in progress exhibition (interim, work on the project continues) A photographer and director from London spent a month at the Odessa Museum of Modern Art as part of the British Council residency program for artists and curators - SWAP: UK / Ukraine 2019. The artist explores the history of her ancestors - German colonists who lived in German settlements in the Northern Black Sea region. Katherine and the museum team conducted several intensive expeditions to the villages of Tsebrikovo (German Hoffnungstal - “Valley of Hopes”) and Tsibulevka, where, according to the artist, her grandparents lived. On Sunday, Katherine will hold an artist talk and presentation of his project following the results of the residence. The meeting will be held in English with consecutive translation. Katherine Losing (born 1985, Doncaster, UK) is a London-based artist and director. She received a bachelor's degree in photography with honors from the University of Nottingham Trent (UK). Her artistic practice is mainly focused on still lifes. Using objects and studio photography, she builds concepts, narratives and reproduces memories in specially created installations.
