It is a logical continuation of the exhibition "Exhumation" (2018-2019), who introduced the audience with the art of socialist realism from the collection of the Odessa art. "Exhumation" ended in a kind of way out of socialist realism in "the art of the thaw", with its refusal of the ideological and aesthetic dogmas of the Stalinist era. They've been replaced by so-called "the petty themes", rehab everyday, and everyday, degeroizatsiya character, it ceases to be a carrier of a collective heroism is revealed through personal experiences. "The art of the thaw" contrasts the image of the "Builder of the ideal world" the human right to personal happiness, which in the Stalin era, was considered a "bourgeois values". It was a transitional episode from the Stalinist to socialist realism, "severe style" (a term Alexander Kamensky), which became the dominant trend in Soviet art of 1960-ies. A new generation of artists,"Savostin" trying new way to understand reality. Socialist realism was officially declared "not style, but technique," which opened the scope for searches in the field of artistic skills and returning to the interrupted traditions of modernism and the avant-garde — both domestic and foreign. Artists prefer the conciseness and concentration, significance coming to the fore major forms of expression of graphic silhouette and large planes of color. They often turn to the modeling of volume by using color, to thick masses of paint, stanitski traditions of "Jack of diamonds", techniques of monumental art. The new movement represented in the exhibition recent works of the founders of "severe style" Viktor Ivanov, Peter Ossovskogo, Nikolai Andronov and close to them, but those who moved on his way, Andrew Melnikov, Dmitry Zhilinsky, Anatoly NCCA. Ukrainian "severe style" the exhibition presents the works of Tatiana Yablonska, with its folk motifs in the work of Mikhail Antonchik "My teachers Spruce and Petritsky" that declares its continuity with respect to the experience of the Ukrainian avant-garde and boychuka. More than half of the presented names is the master of the Odessa painting. Unlike the most part of the Moscow "severostal", about which you can say "no Paradise artists", Odessa searched and found your local Paradise in his childhood impressions and emotions a young age, smear and color, and most importantly — in oslprov the sparkling sea. They made an attempt of new reading of the poetic heritage of southern Russian school, and the experience of Odessa "Independent", which then knew very little. Brighter than all these trends are evident in the works presented at the exhibition Alexander Atsmanchuk, Yuri Egorov, Vyacheslav Tokarev, Vladimir Vlasov, Alexei Popov, Mikhail Todorov, and their direct imitators — Sviatoslav of God, Orest Sleshynskiy, Adolf Vines and others. For Odessa artists of the 60's we offer a new definition of "severe and stylish", emphasizing their similarities and distinctions with the mainstream of the time. The exhibition traces the development of the "strict style" — from 1956, the time of the dethronement of Stalin's personality cult, until the mid - ' 70s, Brezhnev's stagnant time. In the 70-ies has no common Soviet Ukrainian art — there are many individual cases. And nonconformity, which arose in these years is either the output of the "severe style", or its consequence. Artistic quest of Odessa "simple and stylish" became the starting point and stimulated the artists of the next generation, including the future nonconformists. Therefore, in this exhibition, we also decided to show the early works of Ludmila Hawk, Victor Marinyuk, Valery Basanets, Volodymyr Strelnikov, Valentine Khrushch, Moses Cherry, Lucien Dulfan, Yuri Kovalenko. These artists subsequently opened a new page of the Odessa art. That's why before we talk about modernity, we must show that literally stood in front of this modernity.  Where: Odessa art Museum (vul.
