Schnitzer Among the works of Strauss, each piece is unique, but "the Gypsy Baron" is one of the most famous operettas of the composer. It marked a new milestone in the development of the operetta as a separate genre. The history of the operetta "the Gypsy Baron" is an amazing and unique: dreaming of writing an Opera based on Hungarian national story, Johann Strauss turned to the famous literary works of Mora Yochai — the short story "Saffi". With the consent of the author the writing of the libretto was entrusted to the famous playwright Sntter. Initial plans Strauss to present the Opera "the Gypsy Baron" on the stage of the court theatre was not to be: Schnitzer Yochai and without his knowledge concluded a contract with the world famous theatre "an der Wien", and Strauss worked on the score given the fact that the show will be set in the conditions of the theater of operetta. Premiere of "the Gypsy Baron" was held on 24th October 1885 in Vienna, and despite many courageous to condemn the time's libretto (aristocrat marries a Gypsy), as well as numerous view that because of the age peak of glory Johann Strauss passed, the operetta was a great success. The sounds of beautiful music struck the most discerning audience, and for over a hundred years concerned with the heart, singing with love and honor, pride and dignity. Time goes on, revolutions and war, States change their borders and names, sail generation, and this operetta is still not descend from a theatrical stage of the most famous musical theaters, over and over again, conquering the heart and carrying its charm through the years. On the stage of our theatre "the Gypsy Baron" was staged twice, in 1971 and 1982 and was a record for the number of shows played. We invite the audience to enjoy the romance of the enchantment, bliss and passion, exuberant joy and overwhelming melancholy that sound in Hungarian and Gypsy melodies, skillfully used by Johann Strauss in the operetta. And, as said Franz lehár, "the magic of its sounds runs out only when no more cheerfulness when mankind will forget how to laugh, sing and dance."
