And in the novel "great expectations" we find this description of the black sea: "... I liked this little street on the outskirts and was sure that she nigmanovich in the world. ... It stretched along the edge of a high cliff over the sea. The word "stretched" here is hardly appropriate, as the street was rather short. She could go for a few minutes. All the fences were opened the sea - magnificent in any weather. On the bottom left was clearly visible Langeron and Quarantine harbour, where left, curving in a sea of run-storms old saying. To the right of a steep red Bank, overgrown with weeds and dusty Marya, went to Arcadia and Fountains ... ... The black sea street was a naval Outpost of Odessa. Past her were all the ships coming into port and left him. The noise of her gardens talking about various wind strength. ... Street of the black sea was always deserted. Few of its inhabitants preferred to stay at home". In his autobiography, "Briefly about myself" are these lines: "... I lived In Odessa in a dilapidated porter's Lodge on Boom, near the sea, and wrote a lot, But still not published". The exhibition presents photographs of the houses the odd-numbered side of the street, which was destroyed in a landslide on Boom that began in 1918.
