Eugene Volokh and Alexander Palav : album "History of Odessa in the monuments and sculptures"

17 July at 16:00 in the main reading room of the Odessa national scientific library will host a presentation of the album Eugene Voloka and Alexander Palarva "History of Odessa in the monuments and sculptures". The book was published under the author's project "Old Odessa in photos". It is a research edition, like previous ones, created by the authors, not only tells the history of the city, but also gives the opportunity to see her – thanks to unique photos, most of which are published for the first time (only the new album of 241 pictures!). The photographs of the monuments and samples of garden sculpture, next to which grew up not one generation of inhabitants of Odessa. Some buildings have become hallmarks of the city and still remain in their rightful places. Most primarily ideological monuments that once seemed eternal, is gone. Some survived and turned into exhibits unique Park-Museum of socialist realism in the Bessarabian steppes, in the tourist center "frumusica-Nova". The illustrations in the album are accompanied with historical references, which were prepared with the involvement of materials in archives, private collections and funds of the Odessa national scientific library. Namely, reference books, Newspapers and magazines of the past years stored in the library, helped to clarify and discover new facts from the history of Odessa. Presentation of the album will be held with the participation of professional historians, ethnographers, collectors and journalists. ******* To implement anti-epidemic measures for the period of adaptive quarantine the presentation will be carried out in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of health of Ukraine on conditions: • compulsory temperature screening; • the presence of wearing of personal protective equipment: medical masks and gloves; • compliance with the distance requirements of (1.5 m).
