Everything that is beyond reality exists somewhere in the Universe - like everything that is generated by our imagination. The stories told by the artist - like scenes from a surrealist theater - are colorful, intricate, multifaceted. Their heroes are fantastic and florid, as befits the characters of a super-real plot. Valery Kaplya, having weaved a complex play, becomes ironic and sarcastic; although his characters are associated with Gothic motives, they also appeal to the problems of the modern world. Allusions and a paradoxical combination of forms make Valery's works magically attractive - the viewer becomes a prisoner until he considers and unravels a wonderful, mysterious rebus
