"Theater Surreal" by Valery Kapli

Until September 6, in the gallery of the Summer Theater of the City Garden of Odessa, it will be possible to visit an exhibition of paintings called "Theater Surreal". The author is Valeriy Kaplya from Odessa, who combines surrealism with elements of hyperrealism in the subjects of his paintings. This time the artist showed works of the last decade dedicated to the intricacies of human relationships. And one canvas called "The Fight" reminded about the emotional strife of the nineties - then the master created abstractions that frightened the audience with drama “Everything that is beyond reality exists somewhere in the Universe, like everything that is generated by our imagination,” says the annotation to the exhibition. - The stories told by the artist, like scenes from a surrealist theater, are colorful, intricate, multifaceted. Their heroes are fantastic and florid, as befits the characters of a super-real plot. Valery Kaplya, having woven a complex play, becomes ironic and sarcastic. Although his characters are associated with Gothic motives, they also appeal to the problems of the modern world. Allusions and a paradoxical combination of forms make Valery's works magically attractive - the viewer becomes a prisoner until he considers and solves a wonderful, mysterious rebus. "
