Jewish Odessa
The history of Jewish communities and the history of Odessa are inextricably linked. Jewish culture merged into the young, newly founded city at the beginning of the 19th century. At one time, Catherine II issued a quota to Jews for a free settlement in Odessa. It was assumed that they would be engaged in sewing, weaving, footwear and other crafts. Nobody could have imagined in the Russian Empire those years that in just half a century the Jews would become one of the wealthiest people in the city. They will be merchants, jewelry store owners, successful bankers. “Jewish Odessa” became a city within a city and made its contribution to the life, traditions, cuisine of Odessa citizens. UAH 150, UAH 50 (child under 12 years old). Walking tour, 2 hours. Record, questions: 067 484 89 89, 048 722 50 45
