Mansions are an important part of the historical development of our city. In Odessa, you can find cottages and summer cottages, classic and urban mansions, manor houses and residential buildings of the combined type. Mansion buildings were built by orders of wealthy merchants and public figures. Their designs were usually carried out by eminent architects and the result was usually impressive in sophistication. By the end of the 19th century, several districts of mansion buildings were formed in Odessa: Lanzheron, Otrada, Fontan and French Boulevard. Most of the masterpieces of similar architecture were built there. These houses are associated with such outstanding names as Marazli, Rodokanaki, Paraskeva, Anatra, Mavrokordato, Kogany, Mazirov, Mendelevichi, Luzanov and many others.
