Medical Odessa on the Day of the Pharmacist. Excursion by Natalia Kotova

On September 18 we are walking around Odessa with Natalia Kotova. ❤️ On this excursion, we will talk about how they were ill and how they were treated in Old Odessa. More than an actual topic today.  Let's start from the monument to Duke, where we already remember the first plague epidemic in Odessa and quarantine.  Then we will go through Ekaterininskaya Square, where we will remember about hygiene in the Russian Empire, about Saint Catherine and about the city's pharmacies. Let's talk about the development of pharmacology as a science in Odessa and about the famous pharmacists of the city: Shumansky, Kestner, Popovsky and, of course, Gaevsky! Let us mention the Society of Pharmacists of Odessa and the owners of pharmacies in our city.  Let's walk through the Medical Quarter, where we will see the building of the Anatomical Theater, the building of the Medical University, the building of the clinic for childhood diseases, the Valekhov orphanage, which gave the name to the whole lane. We will also see the currently operating First Ambulance Station and a bacteriological station.
