"Cult of Cinema" / "The Pianist" - special screening at "Multiplex"

The next screening of the Cult of Cinema project is Shock Therapy, the famous film by the great and terrible Austrian Michael Haneke, Oscar nominee and Cannes laureate. They are "The Pianist" and Isabelle Huppert. The current screenings in cinemas celebrate the anniversary of this picture, which saw the light of day and made a lot of noise 20 years ago - in 2001. The world premiere of the film took place at the Cannes Film Festival in 2001, where the film received three important awards at once: the Grand Prix and prizes for the best actress and actor. The Pianist is a screen version of the novel of the same name, which is considered the pinnacle of creativity by Elfriede Jelinek, winner of the 2004 Nobel Prize in Literature. The plot of the work is taken by the writer from her own life with minor changes in the events and names of the characters. The main role of Erica was played by Isabelle Huppert, one of the most recognized actresses in French cinema. According to Haneke, without Isabelle Huppert, he would have refused to shoot the film. For the actress, this role also became iconic - it is still considered one of Huppert's most powerful works. The main male role in The Pianist is played by Benoit Magimel (Lovers, My Hot Summer from Sophie, Young Blood).Erica is a professor at the Vienna Conservatory. She teaches young people the music of Schubert, but she herself is terribly far from the harmony of the heavenly spheres. Deprived of even a hint of privacy, she shares a bed like a child with her elderly mother. After class, she secretly visits porn stores and keeps a set of sadomasochistic toys under her bed. When one of her students falls in love with her, she shocks him with completely wild reactions to youthful feelings. We are waiting for the audience at the screening on November 23 at the "Multiplex" cinema in the Gagarinn Plaza shopping center, st. Genuezka, 5/2. As usual, this special screening within the framework of the Cult of Cinema project will be preceded by a story about the film for the audience.
