Metaphor as the language of physical theater

For the first time in Odessa, a course in physical theater is being launched.              Physical theater is a form of modern theatrical art in which, in contrast to the dramatic theater, the movement and bodily expressiveness of the acting ensemble is paramount. And if in a drama theater almost everything depends on the playwright who wrote the text and the director who interpreted this text, then in the physical theater it all depends on how the actor feels this text, plays, survives, sometimes without even saying it out loud. In a physical theater, psychology is equal to poetry. And poetry is a game of elements, rhythm, images. The creative initiative in the physical theater belongs to the actor, so it is important for him to be as sensitive as possible and have developed tools!              For Jacques Lecock, the founder of the physical theater, the main law that was valid for the theater and for the perception of life in general was a very simple phrase: “Everything moves,” or “Everything is movement,” that was the fundamental principle of physical theater.              How does a snow-covered tree move on a December morning?       How does the feather of a flying bird move?       How is the hot coffee going to drink?       We will try to answer these questions, and many others, similar and much stranger, at the “Metaphor as the Language of the Physical Theater” master class - this master class opens the course of the physical theater.The physical theater makes it possible to expand the language of the theater to speak in it not only about people, but about the world as a whole, about other creatures, about other substances, about natural phenomena, about the weather and about animals - in the end, about everything that fills our life.              ♦ What does the Spectator get?              The language of poetry, a metaphorical language, is used so that the viewer at such a performance, thanks to the inclusion of his imagination, turns from a passive into a super-active participant, even into a full-fledged creator of this action. Thus, the viewer gets a great emotional return. And the process itself turns into a process of co-creation.              ♦ What does the Actor receive?              The physical theater makes it possible to play experience, a situation, a quality that the actor has not had the chance to do (often - this is beyond the scope of the possible;) to experience in life. Using the “metaphorical perception of the role", a physically tangible image, you can convey any emotion. Jealousy is like an all-devouring fire, despair is like a dried up cracked earth, euphoria is like a freely floating bird or an ocean wave.
